What to Bring to Class

1.      Collar (ie: choke collar, prong collar, martingale, head halte, general leader or

anything else you are currently using). Your training collar is what you will come into the training building with, on your dog. If you do not have any of the

training collars listed above, Carolina Canine College has a variety of collars for sale for your convenience.

2.      Bring a Snap Buckle Collar.

3.      6 – 8 Ft. Nylon, Cotton or Leather Lead. NO chain leads or flexi leads

(retractable lead). For your convenience leads are available for purchase.

4.      Favorite Toy: This toy is to be used only for class and training time at home.

Never let it lay around the house for your dog to chew at their leisure.

5.      Fanny Pack, bait pouch, or a smock with pockets or any other device, so you are

able to access treats conveniently.

6.      Treats: Something special that is NOT given on an ordinary day. Some of my favorites are Bill Jack or Polka Dog.  Some other ideas are chicken hot dogs, string cheese, chicken dark meat, and any leftover dinner meat from the night before, is also another great option, etc. You don’t have to go out and make a special purchase for your treats, think about things that you may already have in your refrigerator. Try to bring a variety of treats so your dog does not become bored with one. NO hard crunchy biscuits or bones. It’s best if your pieces of treats are cut to small pieces, about the size of a pencil eraser. Be sure you bring enough to last an hour. If you have extra just store it in your refrigerator at home. Use it for homework.

7.       DO NOT feed your dog dinner the night of class or if he/she must eat, feed

him/her very little. We need hungry dogs.

8.      All dogs MUST HAVE CURRENT RABIES VACCINE in order to take any classes

9.      If your dog has a bite history (bite requiring a dog or person to seek medical attention) Carolina Canine College may not be appropriate venue for you and your dog. We will be happy to recommend someone in the area to help you with these issues. Just give us a call 843-902-6338

Cancellation, Withdrawal and Refund Policy

1.     Enrollment in our classes and seminars is limited and your participation is important to us. Once you have registered, we are counting on you to attend. If Carolina Canine College cancels your class, you will receive a full refund or the ability to use the fee towards a new class. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing.

2.     A student wishing to withdraw from a class that has not been cancelled by Carolina Canine College must give at least one week notice before the scheduled start of the class. We will offer a full refund minus a $20 administrative processing fee per student per class. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. After the class has begun, refunds will not be given. In the case of verified medical/hardships a credit may be given.

3.     Any credit you receive from Carolina Canine College will be valid for 90 days from the date you notify us and must be used by someone on the same account as the original student. Carolina Canine College will not extend credit for occasional missed classes due to illness or other circumstances (although we may offer make-up classes at the discretion of the lead trainer for that class).

4.     PLEASE NOTE: Carolina Canine College will not refund class fees if the student/dog is asked to withdraw from the class due to behavior of the dog. We are happy to evaluate a dog (at no charge) prior to registration to determine if the dog can handle the classroom environment.

Make-up Lessons

1.     If a student misses a class and wishes to attend a make-up, one will be offered at the instructor’s discretion. The cost will be 50% the cost of a private lesson. Generally, a make-up lesson will be half the time of a normal class session (e.g., 30-minute make-up time for one missed hour long class).

Weather

1.     Outdoor classes will be held in all weather conditions except in unsafe weather conditions as determined by the instructor (e.g., thunder and lightening). Indoor classes will be held unless road conditions are dangerous. Students will be notified via email one to two hours before the start of class, if classes will be cancelled. Please email or call your instructor if you are unsure if class will be held.

2.      If unable to hold a class due to weather (or other unforeseen circumstances), a make-up class will be scheduled. Make-up classes will be offered during the two-week break between regularly scheduled sessions. Every effort will be made to hold the make-up class on the same day and time as the original class, however, if weather or other circumstances preclude the instructor from holding class on that day and time, the class will be scheduled for another day and time.
